ABOUT PROJECT

The Ballarat Botanical Gardens Fernery is an embodiment of the rich history that Ballarat has. Originally constructed in the 1800’s, the fernery was for a long time an icon in Ballarat that unfortunately was lost some time ago. The challenge was to recreate the original structure with the use of modern building techniques, which involved a structural steel frame battened out for timber. The result is an incredibly intricate structure that is a showcase of carpentry and paintwork. 

The Fernery has been proudly reinstated to the fabric of the Ballarat Botanical Gardens domain.
